Letter from Your Principal
Dear SIC students and families:
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. My name is Shadrach Martin and I am honored to be named your new principal at Success Institute Charter School. I am a Statesville native graduating from Statesville School. Immediately after graduating, I left to join the United States Marine Corps. I was an engineer in the Marine Corps active duty before coming home and switching over to reservist.

Upon coming home from active duty military service I went back to college. I earned an associate degree in Applied Science and Fine Arts from Mitchell Community College in 2010, a Bachelor’s in Science and Psychology with a focus on human behaviors, and a Master’s degree from Liberty University in Educational Leadership and Administration. I am preparing to defend my dissertation at Liberty University for my Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Special Education Curriculum Development in the fall of 2023.

I have extensive experience working in public schools, working my way up from teacher assistant/bus driver in 2012 to behavioral specialist, exceptional children’s teacher, and administrator at the school level and district level.

In 2021, I was hired by Guilford County Schools, where I worked as a middle school administrator and IB Coordinator for a year before being promoted to a district administrator serving six middle schools in the High Point/ Greensboro area. In this role, I helped facilitate a Saturday academy leading into EOGs, worked to increase student exposure to the college environment, and provided logistical support for transportation, staffing, and resources for all of the schools.

I started mentoring programs in Iredell-Statesville Schools and Guilford County Schools called “A Few Good Men.” I hope to bring this program to Success Institute Charter School as well. It is important to take the time to mentor young men of all backgrounds to become the best versions of themselves and be a resource of information for them.
My mission is to prepare each student to be high school-ready with a variety of skills and knowledge to support their career path entering high school so they will know what cohort or pathway they want to go into. We are proud of the many achievements made by our students and staff here at Success Institute Charter School. Family is a key part of that success, and I invite you to remain an active participant in your child's education throughout this year and the years to come. Together, we can achieve all that we dream for our students.
Thanks,
Mr. Martin M. Ed.
Principal
